Top 10 Tips for Embarkation Day

Embarking on a Royal Caribbean cruise is a special occasion for families who are about to start a memorable journey together. This day marks the start of quality time spent together, the chance to create lifelong memories, and an opportunity to relax and unwind in each other’s company.

Do you have a Royal Caribbean vacation coming up? If you do, we want you to be fully prepared for the first day!

Here are our Top 10 Tips for Embarkation Day:

1. Download the Royal Caribbean App

Make sure to download the Royal Caribbean App. At least 30 days before your cruise you’ll have the ability to check-in, upload your passport information, fill out emergency contact information and select an arrival time.

2. Make Reservations Ahead of Time

Reservations for their world-class shows open up 30 days prior to your sail date in the Royal Caribbean app. We highly recommend scheduling all the shows you want to see ahead of time. Reservations fill up quickly so be sure to do it right away.

3. Pack a Carry-On

Pack any necessary medication in your carry-on luggage, just in case your checked-in luggage is delayed.

4. Don’t Overpack

Pack light! There could be luggage size and weight restrictions. Before you go to your check-in line you’ll need to drop off your luggage with the port porters. Pro Tip: you should tip $1-$2 per bag.

5. Arrive Early

Check-in and security processes can take some time, so it is important to arrive early for your cruise. There will be designated lines with your arrival time. If you’re unsure where to go, there are port staff that can assist you.

6. Bring Required Identification

Before boarding you are required to provide identification and proof of citizenship. Every adult passenger must have a valid photo ID and a passport or birth certificate. Children must have a passport or birth certificate.

7. Prepare for Muster Drill

Use the Royal Caribbean app to watch the safety video and familiarize yourself with the onboard safety drills as required by Royal Caribbean. You must visit your muster station to check-in before departure.

8. Plan Your Day

Staterooms will not be ready until later in the afternoon, so plan your day accordingly. We always enjoy an early lunch at the WindJammer before we tour the ship!

9. Schedule Activity Reservations

While touring the ship, be sure to schedule reservations for any activities such as the spa, rock climbing wall, flow rider, etc.

10. Dining Room Accommodations

If you have anytime dining you need to visit the dining room to schedule your specific dining time. If you choose a specific dining time like 5:15pm or 8:15pm, make sure to visit your table ahead of time to acquaint yourself with your table location. If you need to make any changes to your location or table size, talk to a dining staff member and they will do their best to accommodate your needs.
